How many times a day do you tell yourself, “If only I could be or have “x” … then I’d be happy”? I know that I do countless times throughout my day. Many times it’s so subtle that I don’t even realize I am thinking it. But I do.

We live as if there is some distant point in the future in which we will be complete and totally happy. When I have this home or car, then I’ll be happy. But there is no future happiness. There is only happiness right where you are standing.

It is always right now. Yesterday was right now and tomorrow will be right now. What if we replace the above quote with “If only I can be as I am or have what I have right now… then I am happy.”?
