Something happens

I am emotionally jolted

And I subtly

And momentarily

Spiral downward

I am unable to process it effectively

In that moment

I need to write or talk about it

To process the feelings

This helps me restore

Inner balance

Without that processing

I spiral further downward

If I carry it too long

I will break down

If I express what I am holding

I set it free

I set myself free

And I feel at peace again
